Superfood sprinklers to increase nutrient density of your baby's meal

Verena Stark

SPIRULINA

INCREASE NUTRIENT DENSITY OF YOUR BABY'S MEAL

  • Great plant-based alternative for iron

  • High in calcium, zinc, beta-carotene, and iron

  • Prebiotic food helps feed the good bacteria in the gut

  • Offers health benefits to practically every organ and bodily function

HOW TO INTRODUCE (+6 MONTHS)

Add to baby's smoothies, sauces, purees, and sprinkle on finger food like a banana (it's quite strong in flavor, so start with small amounts).

I like to make a spiraling banana mash.

LIVER PILLS

INCREASE NUTRIENT DENSITY OF YOUR BABY'S MEAL

  • Nature's most powerful superfood

  • Incredibly nutrient-dense and a source of heme iron (highly bioavailable)

  • High in iron, vitamin A, B vitamins, zinc, copper, choline, omega-3s, antioxidants, and so much more

HOW TO INTRODUCE (+6 MONTHS)

Open a grass-fed liver pill on baby's food (not more than 1/4 of a cap, max. 3 servings a week; do not use with high heat). Add to baby's smoothies, sauces, purees, or minced meat.

I like to add liver pills to my bolognese sauce.

SEAWEED POWDER

INCREASE NUTRIENT DENSITY OF YOUR BABY'S MEAL

  • Seaweed is rich in many micronutrients and essential minerals, such as iron and calcium.

HOW TO INTRODUCE (+6 MONTHS)

You can buy dried seaweed powder or blend the dried seaweed sheets in a spice grinder or food processor until it turns into little flakes or fine powder. Sprinkle on baby's vegetables, add to purees, or blend into butter.

I like to use nori as it has a mild flavor and is low in sodium

HEMP SEEDS

INCREASE NUTRIENT DENSITY OF YOUR BABY'S MEAL

  • Excellent source of protein, omega fatty acids, and antioxidants

HOW TO INTRODUCE (+6 MONTHS)

Add to baby's smoothies, yogurt, and baby's purees. Sprinkle on baby's finger foods to make them less slippery and avoid frustration.

I like to add it as a topping to our morning porridge.
